    With the rapid development of the Internet and the policy support of Belt and Road , cross-border e-commerce has become an important driving force for the growth of China\u27s foreign trade. In the digital economy, the trading of digital products has expanded to include international trade. Different from the traditional goods and service products, the convenience of the transaction of digital products and globalization lead to different trade development strategies. Based on the mobile Internet, this paper analyzes the sea-going history of content-based digital products companies and summarizes the laws of the sea to help companies in western China understand the status quo of digital products trade and better determine the development strategy of digital products trade

    Analysis of storm surge events along the Norwegian coast

    Observed extreme sea levels are caused by a combination of extreme astronomical tide and extreme storm surge, or by an extreme value in one of these variables and a moderate value in the other. We analyzed measurements from the Norwegian tide gauge network together with storm track data to assess cases of extreme sea level and storm surges. At most stations the highest storm surges only coincided with moderate astronomical tides and vice versa. Simultaneously the extreme storm surges often only coincided with moderate storm intensities. This opens for the possibility of flooding events, where extreme tides and storm surges co-occur, and which could exceed existing sea level records and national building standards. This study also raises the possibility to assess extreme sea level return values as a three-variable system, treating separately the astronomical tide, storm location and storm intensity, instead of the one- or two-variable approach currently used.publishedVersio

    Smart Communication Satellite (SCS) Project Overview

    Smart Communication Satellite (SCS) is the first low earth orbit (LEO) mobile communication test satellite of China, whose core mission is to conduct technical exploration and verification for building satellite internet. Launched in September, 2014, SCS completed its whole on-orbit experiments in October, 2014. In order to resolve the contradiction between the coverage area and communication rate of LEO communication satellites, SCS adopts on- board smart antenna, whereby dynamically changing spot beams can be formed. Moreover, SCS has developed payload-centered satellite design technique as well as internet-oriented software satellite technique, and finally accomplished the design for application-oriented micro-satellite which is 100Kg-class weighted and applicable to communication and navigation services.     Pharmacodynamic and Pharmacogenomic study of the nanoparticle conjugate of camptothecin CRLX101 for the treatment of cancer

    CRLX101 is a nanopharmaceutical consisting of cyclodextrin-based polymer molecule and camptothecin. The CRLX101 nanoparticle is designed to concentrate and slowly release camptothecin in tumors over an extended period of time. Tumor biopsy and blood samples collected from patients with advanced solid malignancies before and after CRLX101 treatment are subjected to immunohistochemistry and pharmacogenomics. The expression of Topoisomerase-1, Ki-67, CaIX, CD31 and VEGF decreased after CRLX101 treatment. The expressions of these proteins are inversely proportional with survival duration of the patients. The Drug Metabolism Enzymes and Transporters (DMET) array shows an allele frequency in patients similar to global populations with none of the SNPs associated with toxicity. The results suggest that the observed lower toxicity is not likely be due to different genotypes in SNPs. CRLX101 demonstrates a promising anti-tumor activity in heavily pre-treated or treatment-refractory solid tumor malignancies presumably by inhibition of proliferation and angiogenesis correlating with tumor growth inhibition

    Overexpression of RRM2 decreases thrombspondin-1 and increases VEGF production in human cancer cells in vitro and in vivo: implication of RRM2 in angiogenesis

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>In addition to its essential role in ribonucleotide reduction, ribonucleotide reductase (RNR) small subunit, RRM2, has been known to play a critical role in determining tumor malignancy. Overexpression of RRM2 significantly enhances the invasive and metastatic potential of tumor. Angiogenesis is critical to tumor malignancy; it plays an essential role in tumor growth and metastasis. It is important to investigate whether the angiogenic potential of tumor is affected by RRM2.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>We examined the expression of antiangiogenic thrombospondin-1 (TSP-1) and proangiogenic vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in two RRM2-overexpressing KB cells: KB-M2-D and KB-HURs. We found that TSP-1 was significantly decreased in both KB-M2-D and KB-HURs cells compared to the parental KB and mock transfected KB-V. Simultaneously, RRM2-overexpressing KB cells showed increased production of VEGF mRNA and protein. In contrast, attenuating RRM2 expression via siRNA resulted in a significant increased TSP-1 expression in both KB and LNCaP cells; while the expression of VEGF by the two cells was significantly decreased under both normoxia and hypoxia. In comparison with KB-V, overexpression of RRM2 had no significant effect on proliferation in vitro, but it dramatically accelerated in vivo subcutaneous growth of KB-M2-D. KB-M2-D possessed more angiogenic potential than KB-V, as shown in vitro by its increased chemotaxis for endothelial cells and in vivo by the generation of more vascularized tumor xenografts.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>These findings suggest a positive role of RRM2 in tumor angiogenesis and growth through regulation of the expression of TSP-1 and VEGF.</p

    Innovative and Responsible Governance of Nanotechnology for Societal Development

    The one-pot synthesis of iron-doped carbon quantum dots (Fe-CQDs) for use as both magnetic resonance (MR) and fluorescent (dual-mode) imaging nanoprobes is described. Comprehensive characterizations of the material confirmed the successful doping of the CQDs with Fe(II) ions. The imaging probe has a longitudinal relaxivity of 3.92 mM−1∙s−1 and a low r2/r1 ratio of 1.27, both of which are critical for T1-weighted contrast agents. The maximum emission of Fe-CQDs locates at 450 nm under 375 nm excitation, which also can be applied to fluorescence imaging. Biotoxicity assessment showed good biocompatibility of the Fe-CQDs. The in-vitro experiments with A549 cells indicated that the Fe-CQDs are viable candidates as dual-mode (MR/fluorescence) imaging nanoprobes. For in-vivo experiments, they exhibit high contrast efficiency, thereby improving the positive contrast in T1-weighted MR images. In-vivo time-dependent MRI of major organs showed that the Fe-CQDs undergo fast glomerular filtration and can evade immuno-absorption due to their ultra-small size and excellent biocompatibility.     Childhood maltreatment and suicidal ideation in Chinese children and adolescents: the mediation of resilience

    Background Childhood maltreatment could increase the risk of suicidal ideation (SI) in adolescents. However, the mediation of resilience in this association remains unclear. Methods A population-based cross-sectional study has been done among 3,146 Chinese adolescents. We collected relevant information from the study participants by using self-administered questionnaire. Chinese version of the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ), the Resilience Scale for Chinese Adolescents (RSCA), and the Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation (BSSI) were used to measure childhood maltreatment, resilience, and SI, respectively. Univariate and multivariate binary Logistic regression models were employed to estimate crude and adjusted associations between childhood maltreatment, resilience, and SI. Path analysis has subsequently been performed to measure the mediation of resilience in this association. Results Multivariate Logistic regression models revealed that compared to non-abused counterparts, adolescents who had ever experienced any type of childhood maltreatment was 1.74 times likely to report SI. Among the specific types of childhood maltreatment, emotional abuse showed the strongest association with SI (adjusted OR = 3.01, 95% CI [2.37–3.82]). Path model suggested that over one-third (39.8%) of the total association between childhood maltreatment and SI was mediated via resilience. Emotion regulation and interpersonal assistance were the most prominent mediators among all dimensions of resilience. Conclusions Resilience played as a significant mediator in the association between childhood maltreatment and SI. Resilience-oriented intervention measures could be considered for suicidal risk prevention among abused Chinese adolescents

    Association analysis between the TLR9 gene polymorphism rs352140 and type 1 diabetes

    BackgroundTo a great extent, genetic factors contribute to the susceptibility to type 1 diabetes (T1D) development, and by triggering immune imbalance, Toll-like receptor (TLR) 9 is involved in the development of T1D. However, there is a lack of evidence supporting a genetic association between polymorphisms in the TLR9 gene and T1D.MethodsIn total, 1513 individuals, including T1D patients (n=738) and healthy control individuals (n=775), from the Han Chinese population were recruited for an association analysis of the rs352140 polymorphism of the TLR9 gene and T1D. rs352140 was genotyped by MassARRAY. The allele and genotype distributions of rs352140 in the T1D and healthy groups and those in different T1D subgroups were analyzed by the chi-squared test and binary logistic regression model. The chi-square test and Kruskal−Wallis H test were performed to explore the association between genotype and phenotype in T1D patients.ResultsThe allele and genotype distributions of rs352140 were significantly different in T1D patients and healthy control individuals (p=0.019, p=0.035). Specifically, the T allele and TT genotype of rs352140 conferred a higher risk of T1D (OR=1.194, 95% CI=1.029-1.385, p=0.019, OR=1.535, 95% CI=1.108-2.126, p=0.010). The allele and genotype distributions of rs352140 were not significantly different between childhood-onset and adult-onset T1D and between T1D with a single islet autoantibody and T1D with multiple islet autoantibodies (p=0.603, p=0.743). rs352140 was associated with T1D susceptibility according to the recessive and additive models (p=0.015, p=0.019) but was not associated with T1D susceptibility in the dominant and overdominant models (p=0.117, p=0.928). Moreover, genotype-phenotype association analysis showed that the TT genotype of rs352140 was associated with higher fasting C-peptide levels (p=0.017).ConclusionIn the Han Chinese population, the TLR9 polymorphism rs352140 is associated with T1D and is a risk factor for susceptibility to T1D
